ABOUT OUR TRAINERS

Meet The Off Leash K9 Team

Jan Morgan - Trainer

Jan has had a love (well, OK, probably more like an obsession) for dogs her entire life. She has been rescuing German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois since 2007. She served as the NC Adoptions Coordinator for Southeast German Shepherd Rescue and has personally fostered more than 150 German Shepherds in her own home. Somehow, Jan still finds the time to assist GSD’s in need of rescue. As the daughter of a retired Air Force LTC and married to a retired Army Major, she fully understands structure and consistency. Jan holds a Master’s Degree in Education with National Board Certification and has been a teacher in the NC public school system for 20 years, specializing in advancing the learning experiences of children with severe disabilities and behavioral challenges. Jan incorporates her professional teaching expertise and techniques which are designed to advance the learning experience to equip her clients in achieving a confident, obedient dog! She structures the environment through confidence building, trust and shaping which are the core to developing the success of dogs and children alike so they can navigate everyday life. Jan is excited to bring this knowledge and experience to our clients!

Hannah Mack - Trainer

Hannah Mack has been an avid equestrian for 22 years. She has traveled throughout the United States as a horse trainer and the last 4 years has been a personal riding instructor. Her training philosophy is understanding animals and communicating with them in a way they naturally understand. Every single animal she has had from her Mustang out of Nevada, to her formerly aggressive rescued Labrador mix has taught her something about life, training, communication and love.Hannah has personal experience with aggressive dogs as Mavryc, her Labrador mix was neglected and aggressive. The very first day Hannah had Mavryc, Mavryc attacked her. It was a pivotal moment where Hannah made a personal commitment to help Mavryc overcome her fears and weaknesses. This process came with many challenges, failures and successes. Hannah realized Mavryc needed structure, discipline, confidence building, understanding and trust. As is sometimes the case, changes, whether small or big, often challenge our pets and when Phoenix, Hannah’s baby was born, Mavryc relapsed and she became aggressive. It was months of routine, positive association and patience to help Mavryc understand there was no threat with this new “little being” in the home. As a result, Hannah understands the trials and challenges which lead many people to ask, “Should I re-home my dog?” We can’t promise we can fix the issues many dogs are having but we can help you understand your dog better and work to help you manage the environment so the dog has more success.Hannah’s goal is to assist you in understanding your dog, the language they speak to us daily and improve your command and relationship with your pet. If you can better understand your dog, you not only have the ability to communicate with them clearly what you want, but also, you are able to read what they need. We are excited to have Hannah Mack as part of our East Coast OLK9 Team here in Wilmington, NC!

Grayson Truslow - Trainer

Grayson is a Myrtle Beach native who, after living and traveling around the world, has returned to the Grand Strand to continue following his passion for working with dogs. Grayson’s love for dogs started at a young age, spending time in the woods of Horry County hunting with labradors and hounds. A graduate of Clemson University, Grayson spent four years as a member of the Men’s Rugby team. After college, Grayson chose to revisit his passion for dogs by opening and operating a dog walking and boarding business (Oahu Dog Nanny) in Honolulu, HI. Grayson’s specific interests within the field of dog training include obedience, tracking/trailing and hunting dog training. In his free time, Grayson trains and teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, enjoys hunting, camping and being outdoors.
